Chattanooga, TN – November 2018

After a long day of driving from Baton Rouge, we finally got to our cabin in Chattanooga!

IMG_3267

Our first stop was for a late lunch at Look Out Winery which was just around the corner from us

IMG_3269

The had wood-fired pizzas, a great start to our vacation

IMG_3271

The next day since it was raining we decided to go to the Tennessee Aquarium

IMG_3305

The kids loved Stingray Bay

IMG_3290

They were allowed to reach in and touch the stingrays as they swam by

IMG_3291

The guide even picked up a horseshoe crab for the kids to get a closer look

IMG_3301

Ollie was a brave girl and even touched it

IMG_3297 IMG_3298

Ollie, Charlotte and Wendell couldn’t get enough of this stinky water, but Harper decided to just watch from a safe distance.

IMG_3299 IMG_3300 IMG_3303

But of course it’s always nice to get a bird’s eye view from up on Daddy’s shoulders

IMG_3304 IMG_3306 IMG_3307

Next stop was the butterfly garden

IMG_3343

The exhibit that got the kids most excited was definitely the penguins

IMG_3344 IMG_3346

They were diving and swimming by like crazy

IMG_3350 IMG_3347

They had some pretty big sharks

IMG_3353

And a shark cage for our bad kids

IMG_3360

These Giant Japanese Spider Crabs were pretty crazy looking, and Amy & Ollie were able to get a good look at them

IMG_3361 IMG_3363

They had this cool area where you could lay down and look up into the fish tank

IMG_3368 IMG_3370 IMG_3371

Next up was the rivers section of the aquarium

IMG_3372

There was this cool bird just hanging out on this post

IMG_3380

And they had a huge snapping turtle

IMG_3377

This was the most bizarre turtle

IMG_3381

The kids got an extra special treat at the “scuba man” exhibit

IMG_3384

Lots of excitement, Ollie was wiped

IMG_3385

But the next morning it was time to get up and get going again

IMG_3390

We went to Ruby Falls for a cave tour, and they had this castle tower

IMG_3419 IMG_3422

Ollie got to look out the window like Rapunzel

IMG_3423

We came for the stalagmites, but stayed for the stalactites

IMG_3411

After a long 40 minute walk through the cave we finally reached the halfway point, Ruby Falls!

IMG_3414 IMG_3415

IMG_3412 IMG_3413

We walked over a mile, carrying kids, ducking and crouching a lot, the parents were pooped

IMG_3417

After that we took a ride on the Incline Railway, it’s angled at over 70 degrees, so it’s pretty steep

IMG_3424

Sunday morning the kids got a treat when Jason made them Mickey Mouse pancakes

IMG_3447 IMG_3449

This gave them some kind of crazy energy boost, and they raced up and down the porch for over half an hour

IMG_3451 IMG_3456

Charlotte got some good GoPro footage

IMG_3460

There was a private dock nearby so we took the kids over to get a closer look at the Tennessee River

Wendell and Ollie having some fun on the last night, all the kids were so sad to split up the next morning and go back home, they all got along so well.
